| Berklee:The Chicken Thieves |
The Regattabar and the Berklee College of Music have come together this summer to create a special Monday night courtyard series that is free and open to the public.
ARTIST BIO:
The Chicken Thieves is probably the most talented gypsy jazz band on the East Coast. Their music is a combination of Django Reinhardt tunes and originals, full of an energy that will bring you in spirit to France and Europe.
Founded in 2009 by percussionist and guitarist Julien Machet, the band includes, among others, Jonathan Joubert, who for the last four years has been playing endlessly with the gypsies in Paris, including David Reinhardt, grandson of Django; and Ben Powell, a young violinist who has taken lessons with Florin Niculescu, today's best gypsy jazz violinist. This flock of young virtuosi have performed for political events such as the annual gala of the French-American Chamber of Commerce, and much more. |
