Amanda Martinez Quartet + Aubrey Johnson Sextet Double bill

Amanda Martinez is a Toronto-based singer/songwriter whose music exultingly blends her unique Mexican and South African roots with flamenco soul. Her solo CDs have garnered her multiple nominations for Latin Jazz Performer of the Year, and her songs have appeared on three Putumayo world music collections, including Latin Dreamland and Cafe Latino. Martinez has headlined concerts at the 2011 PanAmerican Games in Guadalajara and the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Her newest CD "Mañana" was helmed by GRAMMY-winning producer Javier Limón (Buika, Mariza) who hails Martinez as "one of the greatest voices in the world."

Aubrey Johnson is a New York-based vocalist/composer whose style is rooted in jazz, Brazilian, and creative contemporary music, with and without words. Her band consists of some of NYC’s top young musicians and features an interesting lineup of voice, violin, woodwinds (bass clarinet/saxophones/flute), piano, bass, and drums. The group will be releasing their debut album on Greg Osby’s indpendent record label, Inner Circle Music next year. Aubrey holds a Masters degree in jazz performance from the New England Conservatory and has been teaching in the voice department at Berklee College of Music since 2011. In demand as both a side-person and a leader, Aubrey has performed and/or recorded with Bobby McFerrin, Lyle Mays, Steve Rodby (Pat Metheny Group), Mark Walker (Paquito D’Rivera, Oregon), Paul McCandless (Oregon), and Jimmy Cobb, as well as many New York and Boston based bands.
