"If I were going to study improvisation at this point, I'd do it with Mike Pope."
- Victor Wooten

Mike Pope & the House of Cardinals ft. Eldar, Joe Locke, B Franceschini & M. Zottarelli

Featuring: MIKE POPE, band leader, bass
JOE LOCKE, vibes

In one of the greatest traditions in jazz, high caliber, in-demand musicians love performing with other musicians of excellence. With Cold Truth, Warm Heart, his third album as a leader, virtuoso acoustic and electric bassist Mike Pope creates a forum for that to happen. The result is something musically new and fascinating. Mike Pope and the House of Cardinals reflect that wonderful kind of musical collaboration.

Chick Corea Elektric Band bassist Mike Pope has been described as having "Jaw-dropping exuberance and precision" by the Ottawa Citizen. Bass legend Victor Wooten says, “if I were going to study improvisation, I’d do it with Mike Pope. The band also features the young Grammy®-nominated pianist Eldar Djangirov described by The New York Times as having "a blend of musical intelligence, organizational savvy, enthusiasm and prowess that was all the more impressive for seeming so casual . . . [he's] an ebullient impressionist."

Alongside these two powerhouse cats we find one of the pre-eminent vibraphonists in jazz, Joe Locke who performed with such luminaries as Dizzy Gillespie, Pepper Adams and Mongo Santamaria, even before he was out of high school. He has now recorded 25 CDs of his own and performed on almost 100 other recordings. Also in this cool group is tenor saxophonist Bob Franceschini. In addition to composing and arranging, Franceschini has performed, toured and recorded with Mike Stern, Paul Simon, Celine Dion, Tito Puente, BeBe Winans, Ricky Martin, Lionel Richie and Eddie Palmieri.

Finally, one of the most sought after drummers on the scene, Brazilian drummer Mauricio Zottarelli adds the percussive icing to the cake. Having toured extensively with Hiromi's Sonicbloom band, Zottarelli has also performed and recorded with Esperanza Spalding, Keiko Matsui, Richard Bona, Eliane Elias and many others.
