Juanito Pascual Trio w/special guest Jorge Pardo

Featuring: Juanito Pascual - Guitar
Brad Barrett - Bass
Jose Moreno - Percussion

Special guest Jorge Pardo - Flute, saxophones

Virtuoso flamenco guitarist/composer/improviser Juanito Pascual has been called "one of the hottest flamenco guitarists in recent years" by National Public Radio, a major accolade which in this case is just the jumping-off point for the Minneapolis native's musical style. His sound is a truly organic blend of a mastery of traditional and contemporary flamenco, with influences ranging from Jimi Hendrix and the Grateful Dead to Miles Davis and J.S. Bach. Pascual's international touring schedule has brought him to venues including the Tanglewood Jazz Festival, New York's Lincoln Center, Blue Note Jazz Club, The Panama Jazz Festival and Madrid's renowned Casa Patas.

Juanito is truly honored to collaborate on this concert with very special guest Jorge Pardo, direct from Madrid. One of the true pioneers and most significant figures of the flamenco jazz genre, Pardo came to prominence through his 20+ years with the revolutionary Paco de Lucia Sextet, and work with the legendary singer Camaron de La Isla. He has over 20 albums under his own name, not to mention collaborations with a nearly endless list of top flamenco, jazz, and world music artists over the last several decades. He has performed regularly with Chick Corea and has received numerous prestigious awards and honors, including the "Best European Jazz Musician" award from the French Jazz Academy in 2013 for his "Huellas" project.

The Juanito Pascual Trio features bassist Brad Barrett and percussionist/vocalist Jose Moreno, and has been touring regularly throughout the U.S. and abroad, captivating audiences with their masterful musicianship and infectious chemistry. The album "Juanito Pascual New Flamenco Trio", recorded and mixed by multi-Grammy winning sound engineer Rob Griffin, was released in 2014 to critical acclaim and was included in NPR critic Milo Miles' "Top World Music Albums of 2014" list.
